Crystal Czubernat (she/her)
My name is Crystal Czubernat, and I am a lesbian Christian therapist who lives in Los Angeles with my wife Candice, our 11-year-old boy/girl twins, and our sophisticated miniature schnauzer, Charlie. My wife and I have been together for 20 years and married for 13 and there were many years I never thought we could have the life we do now, that’s a big reason why the work I do with individuals and couples is deeply meaningful and personal to me. I specialize in premarital counseling and couples counseling.
I was raised in a conservative Baptist tradition and I was deeply influenced by teachings that framed sexuality and identity through fear and judgment. Because of this, I didn’t come out until later in my life and understand the process of coming out isn’t a one size fits all. Over time, I engaged in a process of spiritual and theological reflection that led me toward a more relational and grace-centered understanding of God.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship distress, with particular attention to those who are integrating faith and sexual identity, deconstructing or reconstructing theology, and seeking healing from religious shame or spiritual trauma. I also specialize in premarital counseling and couples therapy focused on strengthening communication, emotional intimacy, and shared values.
My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that healing occurs within safe, honest relationships. I strive to create a clinical space that honors both psychological science and spiritual formation, where clients are invited to explore their stories with curiosity, courage, and compassion. When appropriate and desired by the client, faith and spiritual resources are thoughtfully integrated into the therapeutic process.
With nearly 20 years of experience in private practice and leadership development. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 2005.
My hope is that through our work together, clients will experience greater freedom, deeper self-acceptance, and a renewed sense of connection—to themselves, to others, and to God—moving toward lives marked by authenticity, meaning, and love.
